A letter to myself

Dear sixteen year old Kae (yes thats right, you're going by Kae at the moment),

There are a few things that I feel like I need you to know.  These things may be hard to hear, and I may sound super harsh, but pretty please take my advice; you'll be much healthier and happier, I promise.

First of all, I know that you love love.  It's amazing to feel loved and feel as though the person you love loves you as well but you're not in love.  Quit worrying about it.  You'll never find a love stronger than a love for yourself (that sounds super conceited…whoops) and you'll never be able to give love until you love yourself.  This is by far the most important advice I can give you.

Secondly, you love dancing, don't EVER stop.  Even if it's just you doing a barre workout in your room, it brings you joy and that is a rare thing.  Also, it will help you stay healthy, you're going to keep having joint issues and the stretching aspects of barre/dance will only help you to feel better longer.

Next, be careful when you pick your friends.  You have two AMAZING high school friends that you will keep for the rest of your life and they are your soul mates.  As far as college friends go, you'll make a couple of amazing friends, keep in touch with them.  Don't let yourself get wrapped up in the politics of having "best friend" in college, just surround your self with people that make you your best self (easier said than done).

There are two things that you really need to stop doing.  The first? For the love of god STOP CHOPPING OFF ALL OF YOUR HAIR!!!!! Sorry, that was aggressive.  The point of the matter is that you will have a problem growing it back quickly which is incredibly frustrating.  Also, keep it trimmed and shaped.  Triangle head is not a good look for you.  The second activity you need to stop is picking at things on your skin (this is a terrible habit and very embarrassing) but it leaves scars and those last forever.

This is going to be the hardest thing you're going to hear from me; your mom and sister are probably right about most things.  They have both gone through things that you don't even know about so stop being stupid and stubborn.

The last thing that you need to know is to NEVER make a life decision based on a guy.  Live for yourself, NO. ONE. ELSE.

Love and Joyflakes, younger me!
